Congratulations to our Team Australia representatives.

In July 2013, two of our Hornsby TAFE It students were part of the team representing Australia at the international WorldSkills competition held in Leipzig, Germany.  We are very proud of their achievements.  Keith Buckley competed in the IT Software Solutions category and was placed 5thin the world, while Mitchell La Rosa was placed 13th in the Web Design category.  Two Hornsby IT staff members were also on the team as judges – Caroline Hawkins and Jarrad Langdon, and two other staff members (Michael Kirkwood-Smith and Matt Ryan) were part of the training and media team.

It was an amazing experience and Mitch and Keith were a credit to Hornsby TAFE and to Australia. Well done – we are very proud of you

Good Luck Keith and Mitchell

ws.gif We are all so proud of two of our Hornsby IT graduates who will leave soon to represent Australia in the 42nd WorldSkills International competition to be held in Leipzig, Germany.

Keith Buckley is the Australian team representative in the category of IT Software Solutions. He will compete against 22 other countries over 4 days, building a mini system using Microsoft Office. Keith did a Certificate III in IT at Hornsby College and has been training tirelessly in preparation for the event.

Mitchell La Rosa is Australia’s representative in the Web Design category. Mitch started at Hornsby doing a Certificate III, then progressed to a CIV in Web Design and onto the Web Development diploma. He is currently working for Squiz and will have 29 in his category.

We wish them both the best of luck, as well as the rest of the Skillaroos team.

Since Australia started sending competitors in the IT categories, in every competition except one the representatives have been from Hornsby IT. Thank you to the staff who have trained and supported them all.
