The Teachers
At Hornsby College of TAFE Information Technology we have a fantastic staff of teachers who will help you achieve your goals in the completion of an IT course. Many of our teachers are currently working in the industry bringing with them a tremendous amount of knowledge, experience and enthusiasm.
The Classes
Each class group is made up of 15 students to one teacher giving you sufficient time with your teacher to ensure you succeed in your course. The classrooms contain 16 computers for student and teacher use. The lessons are hands on and practical and incorporate industry standard software, hardware and development best practice.
The Outcomes
We have had some fantastic results from our past students. Some students choose to complete further studies with us or go on to University, while many gain rewarding employment in the IT industry.

We have had many students receive state awards including:
- NSI IT Student of the Year, 2005
- NSI Student of the Year 2005
- 2008 First in the state for Web Development
- 2008 First in the state for Programming
WorlsSkills Competitions
The IT section at Hornsby TAFE has been involved in the WorldSkills competition for many years with outstanding results. WorldSkills competitions are held at the regional, national and international level. We have had many of our students compete in these competitions with amazing results.
- In 2009 in the international WorldSkills competition - Silver in software applications, Bronze in web design
- In the regional 2009 competition:
- IT Software Applications - Gold, Silver and Bronze
- Programming - Gold, Silver and Bronze
- PC Support - Gold, Silver and Bronze
- Web Design - Silver and Bronze
- In the 2007 international WorldSkills competition our students were placed 5th and 9th in the World in the categories of IT Software Applications and Web Design.
- In the 2007 National competition our students won Gold in web design, Gold in Programming,Gold in software applications and silver in software applications.
- In the 2006 regional competition Hornsby IT students achieved:
- Gold, Silver and Bronze in Software applications
- Silver in programming
- Gold, Silver and Bronze in Web Design
- In the 2005 Worldskills State Challenge held in Orange. The Hornsby IT students achieved outstanding success, winning the gold medal and silver.
- In 2005 Jarrad was awarded the Gold Medal in Web Design WorldSkills International Competition.
- In the 2004 National competition our students were awarded Gold in Web Design, Silver in Web Design and Bronze in Software Applications
